SUPER 4 - ROWRAH 26/08/07 |
||
|
Just a fortnight after Dunks, the Super 4 series headed north to Rowrah, and what a contrast, the sun shone all day and it was even warm, yet again a great entry and some tremendous racing. A class field of 31 drivers made up the grid, 4 heats and a ‘B’ Final were needed to sort out the 24 who would make the ‘A’ final grid . Stephen Lane took the opening heat from Dafydd Iles and Tom Duggan, less 0.71s covering all three as they took the flag. In Heat 2 Tom Atwill took the lead off Delmi Davies on lap 3 and held it to the flag with Sam Moore in 3rd. James Holman was the man to beat in heat 3, Stephen Lane briefly led but Holman moved to the front on lap 5, Lane pressed him hard but Holman held on to take the win, Jody Whitmore took 3rd with Lee Stamp 4th. The fourth heat threw up yet another different winner this time it was Sam Moore who led them home, Jack Hawksworth led early on but had to settle for 2nd when Moore eased by on lap 3 holding it for the remainder of the race. Dan Borton would take third with Nick Horwood 4th. Surprisingly the four who qualified from the ‘B’ final, included Dunkeswell winner Will Hibbert, along with Aaron James, Jon Burch and Peter Britcliffe. The front row comprised Sam Moore and Tom Duggan and the were gifted a considerable advantage when a first corner tangle which involved Lee Stamp and Jack Hawksworth held the rest of the field briefly allowing them a clear advantage. Both drivers involved in the excursion managed to rejoin the race but well out of contention, consolation for Hawksworth was setting fastest lap of the race. At the sharp end Moore and Duggan ran close but Moore was in total control and led the pair home after 12 laps. Behind James Holman held 3rd from Atwill, Lane, Iles and Whitmore. Atwill managed to squeeze past Holman at half distance and then Lane did the same on lap 9, demoting him to 5th. Little changed during the latter stages of the race, positions 1 through to 10 remained the same for the last couple of lap and the final finishing order was Moore, Duggan, well ahead of Atwill, Lane & Holman, Whitmore ran with Iles, Dan Borton, Delmi Davies and Tom Moore in close attendance.
