There was a bumper entry for the penultimate round of the ABkC Super 4 Series at Kimbolton.

Both 125 ICC & F250 National had championship rounds, ICC once again had 30 plus entries whilst F250 National was slightly down on previous rounds but never the less provided some great racing.

Weather wise it stayed nice and fine throughout race day, pleasant and warm.

In ICC four heats threw up different winners in each, James Holman, who was out on a change of machinery, swapping his Energy chassis for a NOWA had immediate success in taking the first. Sam Moore, who if results went his way could actually clinch the ICC UK title with one event to go, comfortably won heat two.

Tom Atwill took victory in the third heat of the day, Jack Hawksworth was runner up and along with his previous heat finishes of 2nd& 4th would sit him on pole for the final.

Dave Heathershaw took heat 4 in fine style from John Church and Dafydd Iles.

The ‘B final saw Nick Horwood, Santino Meale, Lloyd Scriven and Alex Jordan join the rear of the ‘A’ final, whilst Ian Larders nightmare season continued as he retired after just 7 of the 10 lap race.

Mid grid contact at the start of the ‘A’ final saw the immediate retirements of James Holman and Dave Rubie-Todd.

Hawksworth put his grid 1 spot to good use as he led them into the first lap, Moore was playing it cautious, he just needed to finish in the top ten to secure the title, Borton was in the mix as was Lane and Duggan.

Settling down at the front Hawksworth held onto his lead, Borton had slotted into a close 2nd with Lane now 3rd ahead of Moore, his eye on the title not the race win now 4th,

Duggan was 5th, then came Heathershaw, Iles  & Whitmore line astern behind.

A major reshuffle mid race saw Lane move to the front Hawksworth now 2nd Moore was 3rd and Borton losing two places back in 4th.

Once out front Lane began build himself a small advantage, gaps were now growing throughout the whole field and as the remaining laps were rattle off positions stayed the same, by the end of the race Lane had a very comfortable advantage of close to three quarters of a second lead which in ICC terms is massive, Hawksworth had bravely chased but to no avail and had to settle for 2nd, Moore was ecstatic with his 3rd place punching the air knowing that the 2007 title was his.  Borton would take 4th ahead of Heathershaw and Duggan.

The battle for the other championship places would resume at Fulbeck in October where the championships for both Super 4 & NKF would reach there climax.

In the Formula 250 class Gary Arlott made local knowledge pay as he took the opening heat of their three, Ashley Mack chased him across the line just 0.03s adrift.

In heat two it was Ross Allen who would return to winning ways the his title almost assured, Ron Stamp was 2nd with Nick Willcox 3rd. Allen was again the victory in their final heat, Mack again taking 2nd this time Stamp was 3rd.

Come the final Allen made a great start to lead Stamp would hold 2nd by the end of the first tour from Mack, Matt Duncan and Willcox.

Allen maintained his pace as the race ran its course and he would eventually take a comfortable maximum points finish, Stamp held onto his race long 2nd, although Mack was close enough to mop up any mistake that the veteran racer may make but as none were forthcoming he would settle for 3rd, Duncan completed the top four with Wilcox 5th and Andrew Dean taking  6th.
